Never have I imagined  that one day I'd be walking in a tunnel created by flowing scorching hot magma some hundreds of thousand years ago. There are certainly many places to go in Jeju but I was particularly very grateful that I found out about this UNESCO World Heritage site coz as travelers who had a very limited time in Jeju, we had to prioritize seeing/doing the rare things that we absolutely can't find in our country or most other places he he ;) We reached the Manjanggul Lava Tube around 5pm right after our visit to Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, which left us just enough time to walk a whole 1km stretch of the tunnel all the way to the end and back because this place closes at 6pm =D I reckon it was around 4.40 pm when we got on the cab at Seongsan and the driver had to drive very very fast to make sure we could make it here in time.  Upon reaching the site, we practically ran to the ticket counter because there's a cut-off time for the tour and soon ...

If you read my post on Seopjikoji and Hanhwa Aqua Planet , you'd find out  that we were planning to make it to Seongsan Ilchulbong on foot from there; well, that did not materialize though coz we took a cab instead from Hanhwa Aqua Planet ha ha. It was a pretty short drive; the fare was something like KRW5,000-ish.  When we reached this place otherwise known as the Sunrise Peak, there were crowds of people and the time was around 2.30pm. Most of them came with big tour groups; I could tell from the buses parked in the lot. However all that didn't take away the beauty of this inactive parasitic volcano. The site was huge with meadows of grass and little pink flowers all the way from the carpark leading up to the staircase on the vertical cliff going up to the peak. This place never came across my mind when I was researching about tripping South Korea; it was never on the list. We found it by accident when we were walking on the olle trail from Seopjikoji to Seongsan Ilchulbong and were very glad that we did. Just as Seopjikoji, Hanhwa Aqua Planet Jeju was also around 10 minutes away by taxi from our stay, Kim's Cabin . Hanhwa Aqua Planet Jeju is located on the same cape as Seopjikoji, on the east coast of Jeju island It was around 11 am when reached it, just in time for the first dolphin show of the day scheduled at 11.10 am.
