Budget Travel Korea | Seoul | Yeouido Han River (Hangang) Park

Image
Wow! I haven't posted for ages LOL :P I guess I've been too busy managing and taking people on #RNRAdventures especially to  Gua Batu Maloi  and  Seoul backpacking trips  since early this year huhuuuu.. Anyways, let's get down to it - Yeouido Hangang Park. Late spring: Across the river is the view of Mapo-gu skyline As many of you may already know, Han River or Hangang is one of the main rivers of South Korea. Stretching over 490 km in length, from east to west, the Han that flows within the Seoul city area itself has a total of 27 bridges crossing it with some parts of the river being more than 1km wide. Many public parks and cycling paths are built along it to let Seoulites enjoy one of the most natural attractions in the busy city. I can safely say that this river is the heart of Seoul city since it flows right in the middle, parting the Gangnam District on the south side with other famous neigborhoods in the north of the river like Itaewo...

Budget Travel Korea | Seoul | Dinner @ Mr. Kebab

Image
After checking in and chatting for so long with our hosts at Eid Guesthouse in Itaewon , we were finally ready to check out Seoul on our first evening there. We wanted to head out to Gangnam district first, but we were so famished as we missed lunch and it was already 6pm.  Since we stayed just a few minutes walk from the Seoul Mosque, there were actually so many halal restaurants to choose from that are located along the way from our stay towards the Itaewon subway station; so we just stopped by at a Mr. Kebab shop because we were dying for some french fries ^^ Between Itaewon station exit 3 and the Seoul Mosque, you'll find 2 Mr. Kebab branches, we went to the one on the hill slope (the second branch you'll find if you come from the subway). The setup was simple and small, but pretty cozy and private as they can only seat about 10 people (or less) at a time; however it is this big welcoming smile that somewhat attracts customers; Korean speaking Turkish co...

Budget Travel Korea | Jeju | Raw Seafood & Haenyeo (woman diver) @ Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak

Image
If you read my post on Seopjikoji and Hanhwa Aqua Planet , you'd find out  that we were planning to make it to Seongsan Ilchulbong on foot from there; well, that did not materialize though coz we took a cab instead from Hanhwa Aqua Planet ha ha. It was a pretty short drive; the fare was something like KRW5,000-ish.  When we reached this place otherwise known as the Sunrise Peak, there were crowds of people and the time was around 2.30pm. Most of them came with big tour groups; I could tell from the buses parked in the lot. However all that didn't take away the beauty of this inactive parasitic volcano. The site was huge with meadows of grass and little pink flowers all the way from the carpark leading up to the staircase on the vertical cliff going up to the peak. We paid the entrance fee for two at a counter in the middle of the wide pave-way and walked uphill until we reached a junction; My primary mission for coming to Jeju was to meet the...
